The johannesburg stock exchange (jse) is closed for the weekend.
The Johannesburg stock exchange (JSE) is open for trading on weekdays, from Monday to Friday.
The market operates during the regular trading session in Johannesburg from 09:00am - 05:00pm UTC +2.
The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) is a major financial hub in Africa. As the largest exchange on the continent, the JSE is home to many leading African companies, including mining giants Anglo American and BHP Billiton, telecommunications company MTN Group, and banking group Standard Bank.
The Johannesburg Exchange & Chambers Company was established by a London businessman, Benjamin Minors Woollan and Simmonds Streets. Out of this, the JSE was born on 8 November 1887.
The JSE is governed by its members but through their use of JSE services and facilities, these members are also customers of the Exchange. Each year the JSE must apply to the Minister of Finance for an operating license which vests external control of the exchange in the FSB.
