What are stocks?
Stocks, also known as shares or equities, are tiny portions of ownership in a company. When you own a stock, you become a partial owner of that company. People buy and sell these stocks on the stock market, hoping their value will grow over time. Investors often purchase stocks to potentially make money when the company performs well and the stock price rises. However, stock prices can also go down, which means investors may lose money. It’s a way for people to invest in businesses they believe in and potentially profit from their success.
